I'm Settled for Three Weeks

Whew! Beau and I have had an interesting week. We left the Notchland Inn on Friday, April 13, and traveled 426 miles to Clinton, NJ. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Select which had a special package for Beau - a nice container which had portable litter box, a bed, water/food bowl, toys, brush, and treats!

We then traveled to Frederick, MD, where we stayed for four days and visited with Kim, Gene, Amber, Natalie, and Anthony. Lots and lots of fun . . . and, I became a redhead!!! Well, more strawberry blonde with golden streaks.

Then, off to Ocean City, MD for three days - a room with a view of the ocean and LOTS of seafood to eat (my favorite!). Most of the town is closed until mid-May when the whole area becomes alive.

Saturday morning, we took the car ferry from Lewes, DE, to Cape May, NJ. We are staying in a cute cape with a large yard, lots of flowers, and we are about 300 yards from the beach.

I have begun to seriously look for a house. On our trip down, I really enjoyed my tour of Carlisle, PA - a nice college town with a law school that is about 12-15 miles from Harrisburg. The downtown area is primarily historic buildings with interesting shops and restaurants. And, it is geographically desirable - halfway between Jeff and Kim!!!

Off to explore!! kissy kissy

Wrong Time to Start Commuting

Can you believe the first days of commuting after seven years has been through snow... and lots of it? 6" of fresh snow had to be cleared for the first day of work and 17+" for day two... and it is still snowing... and there is snow in the forecast for the next few days! So much for plans to enjoy the view rocking on the front porch.

Celebration Time!

It is a done deal! Tuesday, friends gathered to help celebrate closing the sale of the inn. Bob, Barbara, Les and Ed (photographer) joined me in the cottage for some adult beverages - old champagne and old scotch to toast my new beginning!

Room with a View

I've made plans to stay in a room with a view for the next few days. I'll be enjoying the White Mountains from my porch, and oh yes my friends, this rocker will be rocking!

April on the Porch

We three (Barbara and Bob Sisson and I) made plans to meet on the porch later this afternoon as we have done many times before. The handle will be handy, the bucket will be filled with cubes and dinner will be waiting for us if we wish! No fools are we, this is not a bad way to spend the first day of April. Temps will be moderating and the afternoon sun will keep us warm as we watch Sunday traffic pass by waiting for those 10 seconds of silence (one of Tom's favorite snippets of time on the porch)!
