New Cumberland, PA - Barb and Bob Sisson visited with me a few days before Thanksgiving week, and, we were so busy EATING that we don't have any pictures to record these activities! And, speaking of eating . . . they arrived on Saturday afternoon, and, we had dinner at Coakley's in New Cumberland. While all our entrees were delicious, Barb and I had "restaurant envy" for Bob's selection - the steak and crab cake tower - three beautiful Maryland crabcakes stacked with three beef tenderloins drizzled with a shrimp sauce! How bad could that be???
On Sunday, we left home and headed for DC for a day trip. The morning started off with coffee and warm peanut butter creme stuffed donuts that were drizzled with chocolate. Then, after a stop at Costco (ultimately a fuel stop) but where Bob purchased this talking parrot (totally uncontrollable), we headed into DC. The weather was gorgeous, brunch at B. Smith's where we ATE everything imaginable, drove by all the major monuments, through Georgetown, and walked through the botanical gardens where everything was in bloom. When we left DC, it was in the mid-60s; around Dillsburg, PA, we were met with a blizzard of snow which blanketed the area with two-inches . . . significant for this area.
Monday was a drive to Hershey . . .toured Chocolate World and bought large quantities of chocolate and beautiful pink hoodie for Barbara. Then off to Lancaster and the Good and Plenty Restaurant, an Amish family-style place, where you sit at a community table. Needless-to-say, we ATE so much glorious food - sausage, fried chicken, ham, buttered noodles, mashed potatoes, homemade bread, apple butter, shoo-fly pie - that when Barb and I went to the cookbook section of the gift shop, we were so full from lunch, we couldn't even open a cookbook!!!!
The visit was much too short and we look forward to another "eating" reunion . . . REAL SOON!
